Paths to Recovery
The Network for the Improvement of Addiction Treatment is a collaborative effort between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Paths to Recovery and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's Center for Substance Abuse Treatment Strengthening Treatment Access & Retention programs. The Network is working to improve the process of care, facilitate patient access and promote early engagement in substance abuse treatment. The second round of Paths to Recovery granting will begin January 2005. The CFP will be released on March 29, 2004 and proposals will be due April 28, 2004.

The Home Depot Foundation
No deadline
The foundation concentrates its efforts in four key areas: affordable housing, at-risk youth, the environment, and disaster preparedness and relief. Support is given to programs that provide children with a safe place to engage in learning and acquire meaningful life skills; organizations that work with young adults to teach construction techniques and the importance of working and solving problems together; programs that help develop self-esteem and leadership qualities; and partnerships that bring young people together to participate in community service events.

The Charles A. Frueauff Foundation
Deadlines: September 15th and March 15th.
Equipment, outreach programs, staff positions, screening and education materials are just a few examples of grants given. Health education programs for at-risk children and their parents, support for the critically ill, AIDS/HIV education programs, and nursing scholarships have all received awards in the past decade. Specific institutions and specific programs, rather than national organizations, are usually given priority.

The company's objective is to enhance the quality of life in communities with a concentration of Kroger customers and employees. Grants are made to support education and youth, feed the hungry, and assist local arts and civic organizations.

- Youth Transition into the Workplace
Deadline: May 27, 2004
Service to Science Grant to document and evaluate innovative practices that address critical service gaps. For prevention/early identification/early intervention programs in the workplace for workers 18-25 years old.
- Residential Treatment for Pregnant and Postpartum Women and Residential Treatment for Women and their Children
Deadline: June 2, 2004
To expand availability of comprehensive, high quality residential SA treatment for low-income women, age 18 and over, who are pregnant, postpartum, or other parenting women, and their minor children.
- Recovery Community Services Program
Deadline: May 18, 2004
To deliver and evaluate peer-to-peer recovery support services that help prevents relapse and promote sustained recovery from alchohol and drug disorders.
- Development of Comprehensive Drug/Alcohol and Mental Health Treatment Systems for Persons Who are Homeless
Deadline: May 28, 2004
To enable communities to expand and strengthen their treatment service for homeless individuals with SA disorders and mental illness.

- Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)
Deadline: May 17, 2004
For coordinated community approaches to reduce violence against women and to create mutually respectful partnerships between the justice system and victim services. Applicants may apply for funding under the following program areas: Training; Enhancement Efforts; Policy and Protocol Development; Data Collection and Communication Systems; Victim Service Programs and Visitation Centers; Stalking Programs; and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners.
- Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Funding (Byrne)
Deadline: May 17, 2004
Byrne applicant may apply for funding under the following program areas: Law Enforcement Task Forces; Community Crime Prevention/Community Policing; Corrections; Alternatives, and Treatment; and Criminal Justice Information Systems.
