One of the strategic results of the ADAMH 2003 Strategic Business Plan
addresses the need to supplement its tax-supported budget from private
funding sources. In response to that goal, ADAMH has developed a
grantseeking program to provide enhanced revenues to create additional
behavioral health care services for consumers so that they can
experience recovery from mental illness and addictions.
This newsletter will allow us to keep you current on the grantseeking activities at the ADAMH Board, share future opportunities for partnering, and help you in your own efforts to seek grant funding for your organizations.
The newsletter will be sent to all provider Executive Directors and any
other interested provider staff person. Please contact Elaine Newman at
enewman@adamh.co.franklin.oh.us
or 222-3726 to make additions to the distribution list.

Grantseeking Tips
BEFORE YOU BEGIN: Establish internal procedures
- How will you decide what opportunities to seek? What are your organization's priorities? Who will make these decisions?
- Who will be responsible for coordinating the writing and monitoring adherence to the grant guidelines?
- Who will be responsible for providing the information needed to produce the proposal document? Do you have the support of leadership required to ensure you get what you need?
- If awarded, who will monitor the project to ensure adherence to grant requirements?
ADAMH System Grants Network
The first meeting of the ADAMH System Grants Network was a great success, with 19 agency representatives attending. We recognize that each of our agencies has an important mission that we are working hard to fulfill for the people of Franklin County. Our challenge is to find ways to work smarter to accomplish those missions -- ways to work together, to be more effective in getting more dollars to serve the needs of our consumers.
Participants were invited to be part of the development of this group, and identified areas that they felt such a network could be valuable. It was decided to meet every two months initially. Several agencies offered to host our meetings, allowing us to tour their facilities and learn about their work. The group recognized the value of identifying commonalities in our work and defining ways those commonalities can be useful to us in seeking additional funding for our agencies.
The next meeting of the ADAMH System Grants Network will be:
Wednesday, May 14, 2003
At COVA (Center of Vocational Alternatives)
10:00-10:30 AM, Tour of the facility
10:30-Noon, Meeting
3770 North High Street
in Clintonville across from the Park of Roses
At this meeting I will share ADAMH's priorities for grantseeking. Please come prepared to share your agency's priorities as well. This will be an opportunity to identify areas where we can work together in seeking funding for common needs.
Please join our networking meetings to share ideas and strategies around grant writing. Any ADAMH provider staff person with grant seeking or grant writing responsibilities is invited to be part of this network.
Please RSVP to Elaine Newman (222-3726).
