Tips on Budgets for Grant Proposals
The Budget shows how the grantor's money will be spent to meet the identified needs and to
achieve the stated objectives that are described in the proposal narrative.
The budget should
- Detail the costs of your project
- Show how each cost is calculated
- Be for a specific period of time
Make sure that
- Income equals expenses
- Everything adds up correctly! If you change figures in one place, be sure to change them in others.
- Budget supports the narrative, and has the same numbers as the budget justification.
- Budget is an appropriate amount to support the activities described and is only for expenses that support the activities described.
