The Consumer and Family Advocacy Council (CFAC) was honored with the 2008 Art Lynn Consumer & Family Advocate Award at the 2008 ADAMH Annual Meeting, held at the Center for Workforce Development at Columbus State Community College.
This award is named in honor of Dr. Art Lynn, Jr., Professor Emeritus of the Public Policy and Management School at The Ohio State University and long-time member of the ADAMH Board of Trustees. The Consumer and Family Advocacy Council (CFAC) established this award to recognize a person who has contributed outstanding efforts in order to improve the quality of life for Franklin County citizens.
The Consumer and Family Advocacy Council is a consumer run organization that advises the behavioral health care system on consumer and family related issues.
Since their inception in 1993, CFAC has consistently stood by their mission to promote, educate, support, empower, and encourage activism of consumer and families with the Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Care system in the Franklin County Community.
According to their nominator, “CFAC and its members make a difference in the quality of mental health and substance abuse services, through committee involvement, letter writing, public testimonies, and educating both the behavioral health care system and the Franklin County Community about mental illness and addiction.”
ADAMH is Franklin County’s authority for planning, funding and evaluating mental health, alcohol and drug abuse prevention and treatment services. ADAMH-funded services are provided by a local network of more than 40 not-for-profit providers and offered on a sliding-fee scale, making them affordable for any county resident, regardless of income.
