Barbara Merritt honored with Randall M. Dana Award of Excellence

Dec 13, 2007

Barbara Merritt, from the ADAMH-funded House of Hope, was honored with the Randall M. Dana Award of Excellence at the 2007 ADAMH Annual Meeting, held on December 10, 2007 at The Center for Workforce Development at Columbus State Community College.

The Randall M. Dana Award of Excellence was started five years ago in honor of long-time local advocate Randall M. Dana. The award recognizes a dedicated staff member within the ADAMH system of care who shows a great level of commitment to the system and to its consumers and family members.

At the House of Hope, Merritt has been praised for her observation and analytical skills, as well as the superior effort and leadership she brings to the organization and its consumers. Her co-workers admire how she effectively expresses her emotions and feelings and how she always leads with her heart.

Nancy Dana, widow of the late Randall M. Dana, presented the award to Merritt. She said, “I am honored to recognize Barbara tonight. I think Randy would agree that she is the definition of an advocate and champion in the field of substance abuse treatment.”
