The ADAMH Board of Trustees Elects Executive Officers for 2008 Bonasera Serving as Chair

ADAMH, the Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Board of Franklin County, recently elected the executive officers to the ADAMH Board of Trustees’ Executive Committee. Thomas J. Bonasera was re-elected Chair; Jill D. Steuer, Ph.D. was re-elected Vice Chair; Vicki Dukes was re-elected Secretary; and Ronald Rotaru was re-elected Treasurer.

Thomas J. Bonasera is a lawyer with the law firm of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs LLP. He was appointed to the ADAMH Board by the Franklin County Board of Commissioners. His appointment runs through June 30, 2010. Bonasera is past president of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Columbus Bar Association. He is Past President of Ronald McDonald House, a member of the Board of The American Red Cross of Central Ohio and a current Board Member of the Franklin County Legal Aid Society.

Jill D. Steuer, Ph.D., R.N., is a Professor and Director of the MSN Program in the School of Nursing at Capital University. She was appointed to the ADAMH Board by the Franklin County Board of Commissioners. Her appointment runs through June 30, 2011. Dr. Steuer earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from The Ohio State University and is currently a member of Temple Beth Shalom. In addition to serving on the ADAMH Board of Trustees, she also is on the Board of Directors for the American Heart Association and has worked with the American Cancer Society’s Committee on Diversity.

Vicki Dukes is currently a licensed practical nurse at Good Nursing Care Inc. She was appointed to the ADAMH Board by the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services (ODADAS). Her appointment runs through June 30, 2009. Dukes is a member of the Consumer and Family Advocacy Council for ADAMH, a voluntary group of individuals who are either in recovery from alcoholism, drug addiction or mental illness or have recovering family members. Dukes is also a volunteer nurse for Sawyer Recreation Center karate class. Previously, Dukes served in the U.S. Armed Forces for 10 years.

Ronald Rotaru is currently executive director for the Accountancy Board of Ohio, a position he has held since 1999. He was appointed to the ADAMH Board by the Franklin County Board of Commissioners. His appointment runs through June 30, 2008. Prior to the Accountancy Board, Rotaru has held several notable positions, such as deputy director for the Ohio Department of Commerce. In the past, he has also been on the boards for the House of Hope for Alcoholics and Directions for Youth & Families, both ADAMH-funded organizations.

ADAMH is Franklin County’s authority for planning, funding and evaluating mental health, alcohol and drug abuse prevention and treatment services. ADAMH-funded services are provided by a local network of more than 40 not-for-profit providers and offered on a sliding-fee scale, making them affordable for any county resident, regardless of income.
