ADAMH Holds 2007 Annual Meeting

Dec 21, 2007

Earlier this month, the Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Board of Franklin County (ADAMH), held its 2007 Annual Meeting at The Center for Workforce Development at Columbus State Community College. Nearly 150 people were in attendance, including the event’s keynote speaker Franklin County Commissioner Mary Jo Kilroy. Other special guests included Senator Robert Spada and Judge Lawrence Belskis.

Commissioner Kilroy gave the evening’s keynote address, discussing healthcare issues and initiatives she hopes to partner with the ADAMH system on in order to help all Franklin County citizens. She ended her speech by presenting the House of Hope with a resolution in honor of their dedication of a home in the name of Tom Ramseyer, House of Hope’s long-time executive director. Roger Wilson, House of Hope’s Board Chair, accepted the resolution on the House of Hope’s behalf.

“Tom Ramseyer is a remarkable person and by naming the House of Hope’s 825 Dennison Ave. home after him is just one small thanks we can give to an amazing person.” Wilson said.

Four awards were given out to individuals in recognition of their outstanding service to the ADAMH system of care. Andrea Stephens received the Franklin County Provider Leadership Association William B. George Memorial Award; Linda Jakes of Concord Counseling Services received the Barry Mastrine Award; Chris Frezner received the Art Lynn Consumer & Family Advocate Award; and Barbara Merritt from House of Hope received the Randall M. Dana Award of Excellence.

ADAMH is Franklin County’s authority for planning, funding and evaluating mental health, alcohol and drug abuse prevention and treatment services. ADAMH-funded services are provided by a local network of more than 40 not-for-profit providers and offered on a sliding-fee scale, making them affordable for any county resident, regardless of income.
