Tina Newsome, case manager at Amethyst, Inc., was honored with the 2009 Randall M. Dana Award of Excellence at the ADAMH Annual Meeting held on Tuesday, December 1 at the Center for Workforce Development at Columbus State Community College.
The Randall M. Dana Award of Excellence began five years ago in honor of long-time local advocate Randall M. Dana. The award recognizes a dedicated staff member within the ADAMH system of care who shows a great level of commitment to the system and to its consumers and family members.
Newsome has worked at Amethyst for 10 years and as a case manager helps women develop life skills and recovery tools, obtain family support, integrate into their communities and reach financial stabilization.
According to her nominators, Newsome “works tirelessly every day to uplift women in recovery from alcohol, tobacco and other drug addictions. She is loved by many in the Amethyst family.”
ADAMH is Franklin County’s authority for planning, funding and evaluating mental health, alcohol and drug abuse prevention and treatment services. ADAMH-funded services are provided by a local network of more than 40 not-for-profit providers and offered on a sliding-fee scale, making them affordable for any county resident, regardless of income.
