Dr. Kevin Dixon

ADAMH Vice President of Cultural Competency Dr Kevin DixonKevin Dixon Ph.D. is vice president of cultural competency for the ADAMH Board of Franklin County.  He is responsible for developing initiatives to address the needs of diverse populations in ADAMH’s system of care.  Dixon joined ADAMH in 1987 and held positions including senior director for administrative services, and executive assistant for consumer and minority affairs – where he developed two national conferences on cultural competence.  Dixon serves on a variety of committees and task forces, including the United Way Vision Council and the Columbus Medical Association’s Access Health Columbus. 

Dixon is originally from Philadelphia, where he was assistant director for Temple University’s African American Studies community adult learning program.  While in Philadelphia, he co-hosted and produced a weekend talk radio show on WDAS FM for eight years, which covered the tri-state area.  In 1986 he was named team historian and reporter for paralyzed skydiver Jim McGowan's historic English Channel swim in Dover England, which was covered by news agencies worldwide, including China and the Soviet Union.  Dixon also was program director for Junior Achievement of the Philadelphia area and former station manager for WIXQ radio at Millersville University – where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Education.  He has a Master of Science Degree in Administration from Central Michigan University.    He is a member and currently serves on the steward board at Historic St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Columbus.  He is married and has one child.
